What we doThe RSPB speaks out for birds
and wildlife, tackling the problems that threaten our environment. Our
work is driven by a passionate belief that we all have a responsibility
to protect birds and the environment. We also protect, restore and
manage habitats for birds and other wildlife across our 200 reserves in
the UK and through international projects.
Current projectsIn the UK, the RSPB is working
to protect many of our most-loved birds that are under threat such as
the Cuckoo, Lapwing and Bittern through habitat restoration and
management. Other projects involve the reintroduction of species, such
as the Great Crane project in Somerset that aims to reintroduce the
crane, which once wandered these shores in abundance, to large areas of
Great Britain.
![]() Our current campaign “The letter to the future” aims to bring the environment on to the government’s agenda to ensure that future generations can enjoy wildlife and nature as we do today. While abroad, the RSPB is working in partnership with other charities in Sumatra to save the Harapan rainforest and protect the habitat of the animals that live there including the Sumatran Tiger, Storm’s Stork and 9 species of Hornbill. We are also
working to save the
albatross across the world’s southern oceans as 17 of 22 species of
albatross are critically endangered. And in India, after a 99% decline in their numbers, we are working to breed the majestic white-backed vulture in captivity to ensure its survival. How your support helpsIn order to ensure that these
projects are successful we need your support. The RSPB strives to spend
as much of its income on conservation as possible; we spend over 91
pence of every £1 donated on our conservation projects. This
allows us to use your support where it is really needed. Your money
will help us to restore habitats, bring back wonderful species, protect
wildlife across the world and build a better future for our children.
